Grand Feature Film Orchestra - community/youth ensemble (GFFO)

The Grand Feature Film Orchestra (GFFO)

We're a non-profit San Francisco Bay Area student/community group based in Vacaville, California.  With a passion for how music, sound effects, and visual media come together to tell stories, The Grand Feature Film Orchestra studies, rehearses, and presents creative original and restored film scores live with the movie. Films from Chaplin, Lloyd, Keaton, Lang, and more, come to life with the music perfectly synchronized with the action on the screen.

Victoria Hughes

A native of the Bay Area, Victoria trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music before receiving a scholarship to the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she graduated with her degree in harp under Jeanne Chalifoux. After performing with vocalists and orchestras in Washington, D.C., Victoria was recruited by Princess Cruises to play aboard the “Love Boat,” and eventually became a featured entertainer with her own show. Accompanied by the ship’s orchestra, she performed pop, swing, jazz, and classical styles on the harp.

Jessica's great passion is sharing the power and joy of music-making with people of all ages. She is a faculty member at Holy Names University Preparatory Music Program and maintains private teaching studios in the East Bay and San Francisco. She is also a certified Dalcroze Education instructor, a wide-ranging somatic-based method that continually informs and inspires her own practice as a performer and teacher. Jessica is a community programs faculty member at The Crowden School in Berekely and is president of the Northern California chapter of the Dalcroze Society of America.

Opera Scouts

Opera Scouts is a teen performing arts ensemble that meets on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 near the SF Opera House for training, master classes, ensemble based projects, merit badge arts projects, rehearsal and performance. We also attend local performances at professional opera, theater, and musical venues around the Bay Area, perform at professional and community events, and travel Nationally and Internationally on arts related excursions. Program runs September through May.

Sarah Goss

After reading Music at York University, UK, Sarah Goss took up a residency in Dubai, UAE, performing classical and popular music as a soloist and half of the Lorelei Flute & Harp Duo at the world’s first 7-Star Hotel. It was here that she began making her unique arrangements of modern pop songs, some of which feature on her 2016 Album ‘Engagements’. In 2002 Sarah moved to Bangkok, Thailand to help establish and teach in the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre.

Jack Perla

Beginning in New York with his group Music Without Walls and continuing in San Francisco, Jack Perla has forged a reputation for his unique cross-fertilization of jazz, improvisation and classical music. He’s been commissioned by the Los Angeles Opera, Opera Theatre St. Louis, Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, The Paul Dresher Ensemble, TwoSense, MATA, and many others.
