For classical theoretical studies, my students work out of Piston's Harmony and Kennan's Counterpoint books. Additionally, I create exercises for students and have them write their own music. My students also work with study scores and analyze passages from classical music literature. Additionally, I assign listening to various works spanning the 18th century through contemporary music. Finally, my students use ear-training software to hone their listening skills. For more information and to read endorsements from students, please go to www.jerrygerber.com/teaching.htm
