Grammy Award-winning Ragazzi Boys Chorus, Silicon Valley is a world-class youth choir in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently serving over 230 boys from over 100 schools in more than 25 communities, Ragazzi is one of the largest boys choirs in the United States. In their program, Sing, Choirs of Angels!, Ragazzi’s Concert Group, Choral Scholars, and Young Men’s Ensemble will transport audiences across diverse time periods, cultures, and musical styles with traditional and novel settings of beloved holiday songs.
Sing, Choirs of Angels! honors choral music’s essential role in bringing communities together during this season of celebration. When young voices join each other in song, they create an angelic call to love and cherish one another. The program’s repertoire for treble voices, mixed voices, and changed voices includes Erick Lichte’s high-energy Celtic setting of Auld Lang Syne; 17-century composer Heinrich Schütz’s Cantate Domino; J. S. Bach and Charles Gounod’s timeless Ave Maria; Sy Gorieb, Tim Hosman, and Tim Sarsany’s calypso-inspired A King is Born; Stanley Thurston’s jazz/gospel take on Angels We Have Heard on High; a mixed-meter reimagining of Mendelssohn’s Hark! (The Herald Angels Sing) arranged by Josh Sparkman; Howard Helvey’s vibrant Fum, Fum, Fum with four-hands piano; and Dan Forrest’s awe-inspiring and ethereal The Work of Christmas.
Sing, Choirs of Angels promises an evening of celebration and community. We invite you to rediscover your favorite holiday songs and appreciate the different ways we celebrate this season.
