Jan. 19 pipe-organ concert features Bach, Beatles

Dr. Brad Schultz, who specializes in the keyboard works of 17th-century Amsterdam composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, brings a new twist to a pipe-organ concert in Healdsburg on Sunday, Jan. 19: Music from Bach to the Beatles will be on the program. Admission to the 5 p.m. performance is free. The concert takes place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at the corner of East and Matheson Streets, one block east of Healdsburg's downtown Plaza.

A native of Minnesota, Schultz presently serves as the Minister of Music at St. Stephen’s Church in Belvedere. His musical background includes vocal and instrumental performance and conducting, church and community music making, university teaching and public musicology. He joined the staff at St. Stephen's in July 2023 and is an associate faculty member in the music department at Santa Rosa Junior College. He holds a Ph.D in Musicology from the University of Oregon. 

At St. Stephen's he directs the Sanctuary Choir, leads worship from the Frobenius Pipe Organ, and organizes the church’s own concert series. He is also the Artistic Director of the 90-voice Contra Costa Chorale, a community-based ensemble in the East Bay. He lectures on music topics at the Belvedere-Tiburon Public Library.
