A Spanish travelogue via three of Iberia’s finest composers. First, Isaac Albéniz offers up loving portraits of Spain’s grand old cities, in music evoking their beauty and mystery. Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez (familiar to Miles Davis fans) is a guitar concerto of deeply felt expression and sparkling colors. Finally, Manuel de Falla’s music to the ballet-pantomime The Three-Cornered Hat brings a cosmopolitan sensibility to a classic Spanish tale.
