Duo Avalos Solera presents "Bach en Bandoneon" and tango pieces

Presented by La Bruja Tango Berkeley

Man and woman seated holding bandoneones

Heyni Solera and Rodrigo Avalos present selections from their new album, Bach en Bandoneon. These are original arrangements of Bach pieces for two bandoneons.  The bandoneon was invented in Germany, well after Bach's death, as an affordable substitute for an organ in church music.  The instrument was later taken to Buenos Aires, where it became the core instrument of tango music. This event begins with a sit-down concert of pieces from the album. After the concert, we transform the space into a milonga (tango social dance), and Heyni and Rodrigo play tango duets for dancing (also valses and milongas!). Dancers and listeners welcome.

7:00-7:45 pm concert
7:45-10:00 pm milonga (tango social dance) with live music and tango DJ

$25 general admission (cash only)
$15 student with ID (cash only)

Albums will be for sale at the milonga! Make sure you get yours signed.

Drinks and empanadas are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge, and you may carry them into the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the concert and milonga.
