Join us for the world premiere of "Elijah’s Call: An Oratorio for an Abolitionist" on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. This powerful new work by composer Allison Lovejoy honors her ancestor Elijah Parrish Lovejoy, a fearless abolitionist who sacrificed his life in the fight against slavery. Featuring the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, renowned soloists, and civil rights activist and attorney Walter Riley as narrator, the afternoon will also include Florence Price’s Symphony No. 4 and African American spirituals. Witness history and music unite in a call for justice that echoes across generations!
