Given the attention to, and tensions arising from, this year's presidential election, the musicians of ECHO choose to accentuate music that is harmonious and spiritually uplifting. The result is Prometheus' Fire, featuring concertmaster Brooke Aird in the soulful "Meditation" from the opera Thaïs. Other works include the overture to the ballet The Creatures of Prometheus by Beethoven; a suite by Jean Sibelius from his incidental music to the symbolist play Pelléas and Mélisande; and Claude Debussy's beloved Petite Suite, composed for piano 4-hands and arranged for orchestra by Henri Büsser. Music Director Daniel Canosa will conduct.
The concert begins at 4 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo, followed by a wine and cheese reception. Admission is $25 general and $15 student. Tickets are available online and at the door. For information call (415) 300-7962.
