The West Valley College Choirs regularly perform collaboratively with other ensembles in the community including local high school, university, and visiting choirs. The Concert Choir is the primary vocal ensemble, open to majors and non-majors alike. The choirs regularly combine as the West Valley College Concert Chorale to perform major choral-orchestral works with the Winchester Orchestra. Past performances include Beethoven Mass in C and Ninth Symphony ‘Ode to Joy;’ Bernstein Chichester Psalms; Bruckner Te Deum; Duruflé Requiem; Fauré Requiem; Handel Messiah; Mendelssohn Symphony No. 2 ‘Lobegesang;’ Mozart Requiem; Schubert Mass in G; and Vivaldi Gloria. In May 2024, the Concert Chorale joined with the Winchester Orchestra to perform Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, the first such collaboration since before the pandemic.
Members of the choir have performed on tour in Europe in 2006, 2014, 2016 and 2018, at Carnegie Hall in 2009 and 2022, and most recently performed Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna with the SJSU Choirs in Seattle’s exquisite Benaroya Hall in March 2024.
