Tactus SF presents "The Spirit of a Place," featuring music from the European Renaissance that portrays paradisal groves and stormy rock-filled oceans, the banks of a river where exiles mourn for home, and discoveries from the farthest reaches of the known world. A musical mix of motets, madrigals, love songs and street cries will evoke not only the places themselves but the emotional life that they reflected for these composers. We hope you'll join us as we explore these inner and outer landscapes as we musically visit these songs of city and country, love and grief, fear and hope, pride and nostalgia, and above all wonder at the richness of the world we live in.
Music of Ciconia, Isaac, Palestrina, Vecchi, de Wert, and others.
The concert will last about an hour with no intermission. Reception to follow.
