Symphony San José Chorale and Symphony San José under the direction of Elena Sharkova, will transport you to Buenos Aires with the wonderful "Misa a Buenos Aires" by Argentine composer Martín Palmeri. Scored for a chorale, string ensemble, piano, and featuring the bandoneon, this acclaimed piece injects tango rhythms and Latin American groove into the Latin mass.
Also on the program is "The Secret of the Sea" by Jake Runestad, which takes listeners on a dramatic nautical voyage of excitement and emotion. "This journey of the human spirit," the composer writes, "questions the meaning of existence while evoking the sights and sounds of the sea." With lyrics drawn from Whitman, Longfellow and Inuit mythology, it is a beautiful and evocative piece.
Serenade to Music will be presented in the beautiful Mission Santa Clara and the Santa Clara University campus. On campus parking is available. The concert will last approximately one hour.
