Internationally renowned pianist, Frederick Hodges, will present classics from Hollywood’s silver screen and perform his original film scores on the magnificent Falcone grand piano. On Sunday, August 25, it’s the Granddaddy of swashbuckling action films, The Mark of Zorro, starring Douglas Fairbacks in the title role that defined a new cinematic genre.
Pre-curtain amusements include DJ Petty Cash spinning vintage 1920s tunes on a historic “Victor Talking Machine” phonograph, as well as the silent auction bonanza to benefit the Symphony of the Redwoods and the Opus Chamber Music series. A generous concession stand, managed by cheerful move aficionados from the community, will provide classic music snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine.
Doors open at 1:30pm, and Hodges will give movie and music commentary before the lights go down at 2:30pm. The fundraising concert will take place at the Eagles Hall of Fort Bragg, located at 210 N. Corry Street.
