Paul Blanchard, director of music for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Healdsburg, will play the music of Sir John Stainer (1840-1901) on the church’s Bigelow pipe organ on Sunday, Oct. 9. The public is invited to attend this free concert, which begins at 5 p.m. The church is located at 209 Matheson St., one block east of Healdsburg’s downtown Plaza. The concert, a Choral Evensong, is the second in the 2022-23 series of “Second Sunday” pipe-organ concerts and celebrates the feast of Sir Wilfred Grenfell, a missionary to Newfoundland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Concerts featuring other themes are also planned for Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. In 2023 the concerts switch to the third Sunday of every month, through June. Those who cannot attend in person may watch a live stream or view it later on YouTube. Details on accessing these formats are available at the church website, www.stpauls-healdsburg.org.
