Henry Lebedinsky, a critically-acclaimed Seattle organist known in the Bay Area for performances with Grammy-nominated Agave Baroque and Sonoma Bach, plays a concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Healdsburg.
Lebedinsky celebrates Black History Month (February) with music by Coleridge-Taylor, Hailstork, Price and Still as well as organ pieces by Mendelssohn, Brosig and female composer Theophania Cecil.
As part of a career built on collaboration, he serves as co-Artistic Director of the Agave Baroque ensemble and, from 2018-2023, of Seattle’s Pacific MusicWorks. With countertenor Reginald L. Mobley, he introduced listeners on three continents to music by Black composers from Baroque to modern, including recent appearances at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and Festival Printemps Musical des Alizés in Morocco. In 2014 he founded Seattle’s Early Music Underground, which brought Baroque music to brewpubs, wineries, and other places where people gather, presenting it in multimedia contexts which both entertain and educate.
Admission to the Feb. 18 concert is free. Donations to the church's building fund are gratefully accepted. The church is located at 209 Matheson St., one block east of Healdsburg's downtown Plaza.
