sjDANCEco presents a Virtual Online Program of World Premieres with Limited Seating available for a LIVE performance on June 12

 "Looking Back - Seeing Forward" a season-closing program of World Premieres by choreographers Maria Basile, Hsiang Hsiu Lin, Gary Masters and a revival from Fred Mathews. Dancers are from sjDANCEco and Lin HH School of Dance. Presented in collaboration with San José Chamber Orchestra. 

When: The program will be streaming online from Saturday, June 12 at 8:00pm through Friday, June 18 at midnight. Watch as often as you like during that time period. 

 

Note: The Live Performance will take place on Saturday, June 12 at 8:00pm. Seating is strictly limited to 100 seats.

Live Performance Location: Los Gatos Ballet Amphitheater - at the home located at 125 Alerche Drive at Harwood Road, Los Gatos, California. 95032

Pricing: $30 - $35.  The season-closing program of World Premieres entitled "Looking Back - Seeing Forward" will be priced at $30 per household and can be watched as a Virtual Online Program as often as wanted between Saturday, June 12 starting at 8:00pm and ending at midnight on Friday, June 18.  

A limited number of tickets for the Live Performance on Saturday, June 12 will be available for $35. (100 seats maximum capacity.)

Earth Song

Dancer: 1 sjDANCEco man

Choreography: Fred Mathews

Music: Untitled. Unknown composer. From a CD given to the choreographer long ago...unsigned...but which inspired this dance. Electronic/synthesized sounds. 

     The work is "A Quest for and Celebration of Self Discovery." Revival (From 1988)

 

Blush

Dancers: 3 sjDANCEco women and 2 company men 

Choreography: Maria Basile

Music: Koub (Final movement from "The Book of Sadness and Joy" 2019) by Nastasya Khruscheva, and Hymn for Strings Orchestra, by Mark Kohn

     This work is about human connection and how it is integral in each of us. The piece opens with a kind of desperate need to reach out and interact with another, then focuses on individual stories and how compassionate interaction transforms and uplifts. 

 

Hymn to a New Dawn

Dancers: 13 dancers. The sjDANCEco company (5 women-two men) with 6 dancers from Lin HH School.

Choreography: Gary Masters

Music: Nocturn (1997) by Michael Touchi and Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure.

     A Homage to all who have suffered "Man's Inhumanity to Man" in Internment Camps, Concentration Camps and from today's racial persecutions and senseless killings. 

 

Rising

Dancers: 3 women - 2 men (from sjDANCEco company) and 6 Lin HH dancers.

Choreography: Hsiang Hsiu Lin

Music: Aria da Capo by Johann Sebastian Bach (from the Goldberg Variations) and Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy.

     "After a long waiting under the darkness, they seem to see the shimmer of light rising..."  

I hope the dance can bring hope and lighten our feelings after this pandemic!
