Showcasing Our Own

Presented by Santa Rosa Symphony

Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, with its unique string configuration, is a perennial favorite. Music Director Francesco Lecce-Chong showcases five of the Symphony's principal members in a concerto by Paul Hindemith, with the orchestra’s strings and brass providing counterpoint. Dimitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, claimed as an anthem by both the people and the oppressive Russian government, speaks to perseverance and hope.
