The Modigliani Quartet has won prizes and hearts with captivating artistry. Founded in 2003, the Paris-based Quartet is a regular guest of the world’s top venues and finest string quartet and chamber music series. They are artistic heirs to legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, having been named co-directors of the Evian Festival he oversaw
In addition to annual tours in the United States and in Asia, the quartet’s numerous European tours have brought them to Wigmore Hall, the Paris Philharmonie, the Théâtre des Champs- Elysées, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonia and the Elbphil-harmonie in Hamburg.
The Modigliani Quartet also performs and commissions a wide range of contemporary works from composers including Marc-Antony Turnage, Philippe Hersant, Peter Vasks, Kaija Saariaho and Evgeny Kissin. Since its founding, the Modigliani Quartet has enjoyed performing larger chamber music works, which is how the quartet has built true artistic friendships with other musicians such as Nicholas Angelich, Tanja Tetzlaff, Beatrice Rana, and Renaud Capuçon.
