Presented by San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra

The SF Mandolin Orchestra is returning to San Francisco and Palo Alto for two FREE concerts.

Our season’s concert theme: “Napoli and the Revolution.”

The 18th century was a time of revolutionary thought and music. Across Europe and America enlightenment ideas of freedom, order, rationality, and happiness were influence politics. The music of the time reflected this, with the end of the Baroque and emergence of the Classical Period. And in Naples, Italy, the introduction of an egalitarian new instrument—the mandolin—that allowed any amateur to make music.

• Giuseppe Giuliano: Concerto for Mandolin in B flat (Achille Bocus, soloist)
