Geared for recorder players not yet familiar with the treatises, and those wanting to brush up.
The intent of this class is to introduce recorder players to the subtleties in articulation and tongue placement so that we can have variation in our playing. When we compare the treatises of Ganassi, Hotteterre and Quantz we can see that they were basically all in agreement, which is a good thing! By using repetition, simple tunes and exercises this class will give you the basic “tools” for building your own articulation vocabulary that you can apply to any piece.
The Baroque, Medieval/Renaissance, and Recorder Workshops will hold online sessions in May and June. Information is currently available for the May classes, and will be available in mid-May for the June classes. https://sfems.org/sfems-workshops/virtual-sessions/
