Sing Italian madrigals of the sixteenth century, adding ornaments derived from the contemporary guidebooks.
In 1584, Girolamo dalla Casa provided extensive diminutions to all four voices of Cipriano de Rore’s lovely madrigal setting of a Petrarch’s sestina A dolc’ombra.
In this session, we will warmup with techniques from Rore’s madrigal and florid diminutions from dalla Casa’s florid version, and then join them together.
Pitch: A=440
Level: All levels welcome
Audience: Singers and instrumentalists welcome.
All music will be vocal music with text.
Materials: PDF Scores will be provided in advance and viewable on screen during the session
