Presented by San Francisco Early Music Society

When it comes to recorders and its repertoire, we generally feel that the 19th century has little to offer. However, fipple flutes, including the csakan and the flageolet were quite popular! Learn about these fipple flutes, discover how playable this music is on recorders, and experience how approachable 19th-century music is to recorder players. We will look at a few short solos and duets by composers Anton Heberle, Ernst Krähmer, and Narcisse Bousquet. Music and MP3s you can play along with will be provided.

Instrumentation: Baroque recorders, flageolets, or csakans
Pitch: A=440
