This class will examine ways in which we can get the most out of our practice time.
Appropriate for all instruments.

One day this global pandemic will end, and presumably most of us will once again find our days filled with many activities and obligations. In that context, we will need to make the most of what precious practice time we can carve out for ourselves. Like all my professional colleagues, I have by necessity acquired some knowledge about how to make the best use of practice, that activity which counts for more than any other toward our development and improvement as musicians. I will discuss general principles as well as approaches to specific issues such as ornamentation and technical challenges. While I am a violinist, I trust that my remarks will be useful to any player or singer. Participants will be invited to share their own wisdom about practice as well.
Level: Appropriate for players and singers at all levels of proficiency.
Pitch: A=440
Format: Colloquium
Class materials: not anticipated
