Create beautiful chamber music in your own home with a live continuo team underneath you. We’ll explore two “new” suites of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier’s Op. 35 (from 1731— originally for traverso), both eminently playable on recorder, violin or oboe— or even viola da gamba, if you read “octavo” treble clef on a bass viol. Your job will be to prepare the music ahead of time… and then, during the live sessions, we’ll first go through each movement of the suite, taking time to discuss relevant issues of execution, adaptation (to your particular instrument, if necessary) and ornamentation (how DO you make that twiddle happen in real time?), after which we’ll perform the suite in its entirety.
