Redwood Symphony presents a delightful combination of works that will leave you in heavenly bliss! On Saturday, November 19th at the Canada College Main Theatre, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. Redwood Symphony will perform Nocturnes by Debussy and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. The orchestra opens with Debussy's Nocturnes, an Impressionist triptych that encompasses the vivid movements “Clouds,” “Festivals” and “Sirens” (with wordless chorus). Of all Mahler’s symphonies, the amiable Fourth is the most atypical: a transparently scored, exquisitely nuanced parody of an 18th century classical symphony that includes a macabre dance with Death, a theme and variations, and a final movement that is just a song with soprano—about a child’s view of Heaven (all culinary)! Mahler’s Fourth will feature Soprano Ariel Estebez, a sought-after classical soloist who has performed with the San Francisco Opera, Tokyo Philharmonic, and teaches locally with Music for Minors. Reserved seat tickets ($30 adults, $25 seniors, Free for Kids under 18) are available at this website: https://redwoodsymphony.org/concert/the-heavenly-life/. Tickets may be available at the door ($35/$30) but to guarantee a seat, buy in advance!
