Redwood Symphony presents Mason Bates Cello Concerto with soloist Jonah Kim! On Sunday, February 12th at 2:00 pm the Canada College Main Theatre, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. The orchestra opens with Herbert’s March of the Toys leading into Mason Bates Concerto for Cello featuring Soloist Jonah Kim. Jonah Kim has performed internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician and is widely considered one of the most technically proficient cellists of today. Mason Bates is imaginatively transforming the way classical music is created and experienced as a composer, DJ, and curator. His symphonic music is the first to receive widespread acceptance for its unique integration of electronic sounds. We will end the concert with Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor orchestrated by Stokowski, which features in such films as Fantasia, and Marquez’s Danzon No. 2. Come early, at 1:00 pm, to hear Maestro Eric K’s Notes from the Podium to learn more about the music that will be performed! This concert will not include an intermission and is expected to conclude around 3:00 pm. Reserved seat tickets ($30 adults, $25 seniors, Free for Kids under 18) are available at this website: https://redwoodsymphony.org/concert/dances-with-toys/.
