The Planets

Presented by Redwood Symphony

Embark on a mesmerizing journey through The Planets.

Take a grand tour of our solar system in seven stops with the Redwood Symphony and director Eric K as your guide. Immerse yourself in The Planets by Gustav Holst on Saturday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m., in the main theater at Canada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City. Each movement of Gustav Holst’s The Planets is intended to convey the different personalities of the planets and the ideas and emotions associated with the influence of the planets on the psyche.

The program begins with Ellington’s The Giggling Rapids conducted by assistant conductor, Kyle Baldwin followed by famed Bay Area violin virtuoso Julian Brown playing Glass’ Violin Concerto. Maestro Eric K will precede the concert with a 7:00 p.m. talk on the evening’s music.

Redwood Symphony, founded and directed by Dr. Eric K, is dedicated to the performance of an ambitious, contemporary repertoire, as well as the great orchestral classics. The innovative programming and emphasis on education are two reasons why so many of the most talented musicians from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area volunteer their time to play and why audiences and critics are so enthusiastic about Redwood Symphony’s artistry.

Tickets for concerts are $30 in advance, $35 at the door for individual adults; seniors are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and $10 for students with ID.
