Rouge your knees, roll your stockings down and join us at a swinging Prohibition Speakeasy Ball with Sara & Swingtime at the historic Alameda Elks Lodge (allegedly, the site of a real Speakeasy back in the 1920’s). After the 7pm vintage dance and Swing lesson, Sara & Swingtime plays an evening of classic 1920s and 30’s Swing and vintage ballroom dance music, lots of romantic waltzes, and the scandalous Charleston. No partners needed. Formal dancing 8pm to midnight. 1920’s or ‘30’s costume, Gatsby picnic attire, or vintage or modern evening dress is admired, but not required. No host bar and a light potluck snack buffet! Tickets are $20 (by September 28); $25 at the door. For information, please call (510) 522-1731, or check out the ball website at http://www.peersdance.org/speakeasy.html

Rouge your knees, roll your stockings down, and join us at a riotous Prohibition era dance party with 1920's and 30's music by Sara & Swingtime, one of the hottest dance bands in town, playing hot Swing, cool blues, and elegant vintage ballroom dance music, a beautiful assortment of waltzes, and, of course, the notorious Charleston.
For those wishing a brush-up, there will be a pre-ball dance class at 7pm in vintage fox trot and East Coast Swing. Formal dancing follows from 8pm to midnight.
Vintage or modern evening dress or costumes from the Prohibition era (1919 -1933) are admired, but not required. If you like, feel free to wear your Gatsby Summer Afternoon attire instead. You’ll see lots of different fashions at this Speakeasy!
Needless to say, an excellent no host bar will be at your service and complimentary light snacks will be served (Your potluck contributions to the buffet are very welcome).
Tickets are $20 in advance (through Saturday, September 28); $25 at the door! For ticket information, see http://www.peersdance.org/speakeasy.html
