PEV's holiday concerts explore and celebrate music of the Spanish diaspora, as well as other seasonal delights. The program opens in candlelight and features Basque and Mexican works in Spanish and Indigenous languages from across the Americas and beyond, and the music will include drums, guitar, harpsichord and more. The centerpiece is Ariel Ramirez' lively Misa Criolla, a folk mass in Spanish, featuring soloists, traditional melodies and percussion. Also featured is a PEV-commissioned work Oración: Salvamè for baritone and piano by Paulino Contreras, who will perform the work with PEV music director Ash Walker as soloist. It will be a lively and joyous musical experience for everyone!
