Transfigured Voices presents piano works by three of the most original and influential Eastern European women composers—Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Galina Ustvolskaya, and Sofia Gubaidulina. These uncompromising piano scores are deeply spiritual and strikingly expressive. “Swimming against the stream”, their music transmits the rebellion spirit of neither traditional, nor avant-garde sensibility.
Hailed by critics as a “vibrant and expressive performer who could steal the show in every concert” (The New York Times) and “energetic and lively pianist who displaces power and delicacy in nuanced sensitivity along with virtuoso technique” (The Baltimore Sun), Daniela Mineva’s unique approach to standard repertory, combined with the performance and dedication of works by living composers, make her in demand as one of the most prolific artists. Daniela Mineva has won top prizes from numerous international and national piano and chamber music competitions in USA and Europe. She has played solo recital and concerts as a soloist with orchestra in some of the most prestige venues in USA, Italy, France, Russia, Germany, Costa Rica, Thailand, Bulgaria, and China among many others.
As a dedicated new music advocate, Ms. Mineva has commissioned, collaborated with, and performed works by many young and established composers of our time like William Bolcom, Lukas Foss, Kaija Saariaho, Libby Larsen, Chen Yi, Bright Sheng, Frederic Rzewski, Julia Wolfe, Krassimir Taskov, Vera Ivanova, and Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez to name a few. She has held teaching positions at Eastman School of Music, Concordia University, currently she is director of keyboard studies at Cal Poly Humboldt Music Department.
