Lautenmusik der Aufklärung is a recital of solo music for the 11-course Baroque lute, a cultural icon of the German Enlightenment. Lute virtuosos such as Bittner, Kellner, and especially the great Silvius Weiss inherited the French lute tradition from Gallot, to forge a repertoire foreshadowing the keyboard sonatas of the Classic Period.
Franklin Lei has performed this program in his German tour of Fall 2019, at St Bartholomäus Dornheim where J.S. Bach was married in 1707, and Liebfrauenkirche Langewiesen where Bach tested the organ in 1706.
