Music in Place is proud to present “Top Brass,” an afternoon concert featuring some of the finest brass musicians in the country.
The concert will be held in Schroeder Hall at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University, 1801 E Cotati Avenue in Rohnert Park, at 4 pm on November 3rd. The program host will be Bay Area trombone legend, Mark Lawrence.
At the top of the program will be the West-Coast premiere of Chick Corea’s Trombone Concerto, the last piece he ever composed, in a world-premiere piano reduction performed by top-class musicians Joseph Alessi of the New York Philharmonic, trombone, and John Dickson, piano.
Special guests also include: the San Francisco Symphony Brass Quintet (Aaron Schumann on trumpet, Guy Piddington on trumpet, Jessica Valeri on French horn, Tim Higgins on trombone, and Christopher Bassett on bass trombone); master organist Stephen Main; and top brass students from San José State University, Sonoma State University, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
