Basil Poledouris: The Music and The Movies, will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Conan the Barbarian and the life and career of the late film composer, Basil Poledouris. This will be the Los Angeles Film Orchestra’s debut performance, featuring special guest actors, filmmakers, and composers that worked with Poledouris on movies including Conan: The Barbarian, The Blue Lagoon, RoboCop, The Hunt for Red October, Starship Troopers, Lonesome Dove, Free Willy, Iron Eagle and more.
Basil Poledouris was one of film music’s most beloved figures over the 35 years of his brilliant career. During the 1980s and 90s, he composed some of the greatest scores of the period, including some genuine classics that will endure for decades, or maybe centuries! Tragically, we lost Basil in 2006, when he was only 61 years old.
Join Steven Allen Fox and The Los Angeles Film Orchestra and Chorale, with Resident Choir Maestra Marya Basaraba, in this special tribute to the great Basil Poledouris, produced and hosted by Robert Townson, a longtime friend who worked with Basil on twenty of his albums. Special presenters and guest conductors will include composers John Debney, John Frizzell, John Ottman, Christopher Lennertz, and filmmakers Randal Kleiser (Blue Lagoon), Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Starship Troopers), John Milius (Conan The Barbarian, Red Dawn), and other surprise guests.
