Commencement and Culmination

Presented by Kensington Symphony Orchestra

For its final concert of the 2021-’22 season the KSO, Geoffrey Gallegos, Music Director & Conductor, offers one of the great masterworks of the early romantic period: Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B minor, the so called “Unfinished.” Bookending this wonderful work (and there really is nothing unfinished about it), are two beloved pieces in celebration of and association with academia, ceremony, pomp and graduation: the Academic Festival Overture of Johannes Brahms and Sir Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Military March No. 1, whose trio section theme is famous and familiar for its traditional usage in commencement, graduation, and other festive occasions and celebrations, including our culmination of a full live season of music making after two years!
