The Best of Ukraine and Russia

Presented by Kensington Symphony Orchestra

Daniel Glover, piano soloist

For its 2022-2023 season opening concert, the KSO, Geoffrey Gallegos, Music Director & Conductor, presents The Best of Ukraine and Russia, celebrating their great musical and cultural traditions with a reminder of what is good about both countries despite the violent and hostile aggression and atrocities of war. Featuring the brilliant Bay Area pianist Daniel Glover as soloist in two works; Sergei Prokofiev's joyfully energetic First Piano Concerto in D-flat Major, and the Rhapsody on Ukranian Themes for Piano and Orchestra by Sergei Lyapunov. Bookending those works, the concert opens with Stravinksy's jaunty, jazz oriented march Scherzo á la russe, and concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov's exuberant, colorful and virtuosic tribute to Spain, Capriccio Espagñol.

Don't miss this exciting evening showcasing the symphonic splendor of these great Ukranian and Russian masters!
