Guided by guest musicologist, Derek Katz each Ives Collective Salon invites you to delve into the world of a specific composer. Derek explores the era in which they lived, the social, political and cultural experiences that shaped their life and work and the specific influences we hear in the piece we are presenting.
For our winter 2025 Salon, Derek will lead our discussion about Beethoven's String Trio in C minor, Op.9, No.3, giving us historical perspective, composition insights and commentary on the longevity of this masterful work.
Artists Kay Stern, violin; Susan Freier, violin; and Stephen Harrison, cello will perform the work with time for discussion between each movement.
Following the concert, meet the artists and fellow concert-goers while savoring snacks in the courtyard.
