Terra Incognita

Presented by Fifth Street Farms

Terra Incognita is Shira Kammen, Robin Petrie, and Peter Maund, three Bay Area musicians with rich backgrounds in international folk, classical, contemporary and traditional music. The trio performs its own compositions as well as unique arrangements of traditional songs and dances.

Terra Incognita is on a musical adventure to intertwine ancient and new compositions with moments of improvisation, venturing into unknown lands and soundscapes.  This concert will be a musical ritual to honor the New Year and celebrate new beginnings, with traditional repertoire from Brittany, Sweden, Bulgaria, Greece, India and more, and original compositions drawn from that same international wellspring.

Shira Kammen is a multi-instrumentalist (and occasional singer) who performs on violin, vielle, rebec and harp. Robin Petrie plays the santour, or hammered dulcimer, and Peter Maund plays various frame drums, tambourine, doumbek and other hand drums. All three are well known to Bay Area audiences and have performed at Fifth Street Farms with other groups in the past. We're pleased to have them back in this new formation.
