About the Artist

Patrick Galvin is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Camilla Wicks and Wei He. Patrick also spent two years studying violin with Barbara Gorzynska at the Prayner Konservatorium in Vienna, Austria.

Patrick made his solo debut at age 11 with the Oakland East Bay Symphony playing the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1. He was winner of the East Bay Young Artist Competition in 2000, the Yehudi Menuhin/Helen Dowling award in 2002 and the Kensington Young Artist Competition in 2003. In April 2004 he was the soloist with the Kensington Symphony playing the Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No 5. He has also performed at the Junior Bach Festival. In 2013 and 2015, Patrick competed in the Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach, Austria.

When he is not performing, Patrick teaches violin at a local school and out of his home in San Francisco. He has also written for the online journal The San Francisco Classical Voice. In 2014, Patrick was selected to be a fellow in the Rubin Institute for Music Criticism. During his time at the University of San Francisco, he was selected to be a Davies Scholar.

Winner of the 60th Corpus Christi International Music Competition, Taiwanese pianist Chien-Lin Lu, has also won the Austin Critics Table Best Chamber Music Performance of the Year Award. He has collaborated with artists such as Donnie Ray Albert, Josef Špaček, DaXun Zhang, Julia Lichten, Patricia McCarty, Gerardo Ribeiro, Kikuei Ikeda, Sandy Yamamoto, and Bion Tsang. In Fall of 2021, he and Chinese-American mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce premiered Jennifer Higdon’s song cycle, Wise Moon as winners of the Marilyn Horne Song Competition. Chien-Lin just completed a two-year residency as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Chamber and Collaborative Music) and Postdoctoral Resident Scholar at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He received a doctorate at the University of Texas Butler School of Music and earned his master’s degree at San Francisco Conservatory. For three summers, Chien-Lin was a Collaborative Piano Fellow and Vocal Fellow at Music Academy of the West and has also served on staff for the Meadowmount School of Music. Passionate about nurturing the next generation of musicians, he joined the Coleman Violin Studio in Seattle, Washington as the studio’s collaborative pianist in Fall of 2022.
