ECHO Chamber Orchestra, based at First Presbyterian Church San Anselmo, will perform on the Glenview Classical Series at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland on Sunday, February 9, at 4 PM. Music Director Daniel Canosa will conduct.
The concert is entitled Integration, for the world premiere of violinist-composer Ariel Wang's orchestral suite of the same name. "Integration" draws from the composer's love of folk and classical music, particularly the Chinese folk music that she grew up with. "I wrote this piece as a part of my life-long journey integrating the many aspects of my life which sometimes feel at odds with each other," she said. Wang performs with numerous Bay Area ensembles, including ECHO Chamber Orchestra.
Another ECHO musician to be featured will be clarinetist Robert "Kyle" Beard who will perform Carl Maria von Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F Minor. An enthusiast of all varieties of music, Beard enjoys exploring classical music as well as the marriage between classical and folk/popular music. Besides ECHO, Beard performs with the Luke Doughty Quartet, Slow Wave and the North State Symphony.
Rounding out the program will be Canoeing Silver Lake by California composer Alexis Alrich, and the Overture, Scherzo and Finale by Robert Schumann.
