Sundays @ Four: Quartet San Francisco

Presented by Crowden Music Center

Crowden is proud to present Grammy-nominated Quartet San Francisco for a unique "Sundays @ Four" concert featuring works by 20th century American legends Eddie South and Raymond Scott.

Sundays @ Four is Crowden's series of low-cost, family friendly concerts featuring distinguished chamber musicians. Artists speak about each work and share their personal observations in these intimate concerts, followed by a Meet-the-Artists Reception. As always at Crowden, children under 18 attend free.

Non-traditional in their delivery, Quartet San Francisco redefines the sound of chamber music. "When the music says swing, we swing. When the music says groove, we groove." Grammy nominees for four CD releases and International Tango competition winners, Quartet San Francisco expresses itself in its agility and standout virtuosic playing. These crossover specialists excel in multiple styles - from jazz to tango, pop to funk, blues to bluegrass, gypsy swing to big band and beyond.

Join us March 12 for a unique program of string quartet repertoire featuring works by under-appreciated 20th century American legends Eddie South and Raymond Scott. QSF will celebrate the musical legacies of Black jazz violinist Eddie South, whose virtuosity brought him from classical to jazz bandleader, vaudeville tours to recording with iconic artists like Django Reinhardt; and American composer, pianist, producer, and instrument inventor Raymond Scott, whose musical career includes jazz and swing, CBS Radio, Motown, and Broadway. You've likely heard his music without even knowing, which has been adapted for use in countless cartoons from 1940s Looney Tunes to modern-day media like "The Simpsons" and "Bluey."

Don't miss this opportunity to hear American musical history interpreted by the exhilarating artistry of Quartet San Francisco!
