Chora Nova closes its 2023-24 season with a concert under the baton of guest conductor Ash Walker, performing a program of music for chorus and organ.
The evening’s highlights are Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and Louis Vierne’s Messe Solenelle in C-sharp Minor. John Wilson will accompany the chorus on the magnificent pipe organ at First Church Berkeley (formerly First Congregational Church). The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.
Ash Walker serves as Director of the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Artistic Director of Pacific Edge Voices, and Cantor and Associate Director of Choirs at the Cathedral of Saint Mary, Archdiocese of San Francisco.
John Wilson was previously Organist and Choirmaster of the Memorial Episcopal Church in Baltimore, where he also performed as pianist and organist for Baltimore Symphony and Baltimore Lyric Opera. He serves as accompanist for Oakland Symphony Chorus and San Francisco Symphony Chorus.
