The Circadian String Quartet, with Leslie Bonnett, alto

Presented by Calliope: East Bay Music & Arts

The Circadian String Quartet presents: Home, a concert that delves into what home means to us through music by Antonin Dvorak, Philip Glass, the Magnetic Zeros, and David Ryther. Dvorak wrote his "American" String Quartet while pining for home from a Czech enclave in Spillville, Iowa. In his String Quartet no. 5, Philip Glass takes us on an epic journey that comes "back home." Excerpts from David Ryther's Opera, "Euridice's Defiance" explore a story of migration, and our own rendition of the Magnetic Zero's song Home confirms the old adage that "home" is where the heart is.

With Monika Gruber, violin; David Ryther, violin; Omid Assadi, viola; David Wishnia, cello and special guest Leslie Bonnett, alto
