Gail Hernandez Rosa (Baroque violin, viola, vocals) and Daniel Turkos (contrabass, cittern/Irish bouzouki, vocals) are accomplished and renowned early music practitioners who joined forces to create a new, global way of approaching Baroque/classical and folk traditions and how they have evolved through time, presenting music with unorthodox instrumentation and connection. For this program, they will perform Latin American Baroque music, Vivaldi, Mozart, Celtic fiddle music, and more. PLUS: their own arrangement of the Grateful Dead tune Uncle John's Band - a Baroque take on the original tune - as well as Bach Minuets and Gigue from the first Bach cello suite - with newly composed music to complement Bach's original composition.
Gail Hernandez Rosa performs with American Bach Soloists, Washington Bach Consort, Philharmonia Baroque, Bach Collegium SD, leads Lumedia Music Works and has an active career as a soloist & chamber musician.
Bassist Daniel Turkos performs regularly with The American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Handel & Haydn Society, Tempesta di Mare - Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra, The Pennsylvania Ballet, Opera Philadelphia, The Philly Pops, Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, The Wayne Oratorio Society, Pig Iron Theatre, Villanova Theatre and with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on a national tour with saxophonist Branford Marsalis.
