What’s Interesting About This Program

  • World Premiere: The music of Young American Composer-in-Residence Viet Cuong (2020-2023) has been acclaimed as “wildly alluring” and “inventive” by the New York Times.

  • Bay Area native Nathan Chan’s musical career began when he debuted as a conductor with the San Jose Chamber Orchestra at the age of three. He performs Edward Elgar’s soaring and iconic Cello Concerto.

  • Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 uses a recurring melody representing fate, that transforms from dark and menacing to joyous and triumphant for an epic finish to the 2021/22 season.

Patrons must be fully vaccinated, and masks are required inside the venue. For details, please visit www.californiasymphony.org/COVIDsafety Thank you for your cooperation!
