See the classical music superstars of tomorrow today as they compete over two days for cash prizes and performance contracts in one of the world's most anticipated and exciting music competitions. At this year’s Klein International String Competition nine outstanding young string players aged 15-23 will perform at Hume Hall, San Francisco Conservatory of Music before a live audience. Both days will be livestreamed on the Violin Channel.
The SEMIFINALS round takes place 10AM-4PM Sat 6/3. Each competitor performs a dynamic 25-minute program including solo Bach, premieres the commissioned work by Gity Razaz, and plays a movement from a major concerto. Repertoire will include Bartok, Bloch, Brahms, Dvořák, Prokofiev, Walton, and Tchaikovsky.
The FINALS round takes place 3-5PM Sun 6/4.
Three to four finalists selected by the jury from the previous day's competition each perform a powerful 35-minute program, including a sonata movement, and more movements from their chosen concerto. Top prizes will be awarded at the end of the programs.
Cellist Coleman Itzkoff (2016 prizewinner)will co-emcee with the Klein's Artistic Director Mitchell Sardou Klein.
