2021 Klein Competition Prizewinner William Tan, cello in Recital

The California Music Center, producer of the Klein International String Competition presents its first in-person public concert in two years on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 3PM, Maybeck Studio in Berkeley.  The recital features 17-year-old cellist WILLIAM TAN (3rd prizewinner Klein Competition 2021), with pianist Miles Graber.  His program will include Bach, Klengel, and Schubert.

From Chicago, William is a student of Hans Jorgen Jensen, professor of cello at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.  William won both 3rd Prize and Weiss Prize for Best Performance of the Commissioned Work at the 2021 Klein International Competition, and was the national winner of the Music Teachers National Association Music Competition. He has performed as a soloist with the Orchestra of Camerata New Jersey, the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, the Lakeview Orchestra, and the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
