Start 2025 with the Berkeley Community Chorus & Orchestra's (BCCO) winter concert. Come hear masterworks by three beloved composers Haydn, Beethoven, and Fauré. Haydn's Mass in Time of War composed in 1796 as Europe was at war and and is famous for its use of timpani to invoke military drama. The Mass is optimistic and reflects Haydn's compositional genius. Gabriel Faurés Requiem is marked by clear harmonies and conveys a sense of transition, and deliverance, with exquisite solos for the mezzo and baritone. Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, will showcase award-winning SF Symphony pianist John Wilson. The music foreshadows Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, with familiar strains of the Ninth's Ode to Joy. Maestro Ming Luke leads the full chorus, orchestra, and soloists in a concert to send your spirits soaring on this first weekend of the new year.
