Beginning

This class is for children who would benefit from the experience of playing in an orchestra in an early stage in their playing. We will play easy tunes and rounds for one, two or three voices.

Basic musical concepts such as note reading, rhythm, pitch, and piano technique will be taught through fun and imaginative activities. Children will also learn to play simple songs on the piano. Since students will be expected to practice at home, they must have access to a keyboard or piano.

Students will be introduced to symphonic instruments and experiment with the way their sounds are produced. They will also learn popular songs from around the world.

Cantabile Youth Singers, since 2004 under the artistic leadership of world-renowned conductor Elena Sharkova, offers children comprehensive choral music education and performance opportunities of the highest caliber, thereby engaging their hearts and minds, encouraging a lifetime appreciation of the arts, the diversity of human kind, cultures, and languages. Preparatory Choir teaches young singers the fundamentals of singing in a group, including beginning note reading, vocal production, and performance. No previous experience is needed.

Ensembles and orchestras rehearse weekly in Los Altos and perform at Flint Center, Spangenberg Theatre, Foothill College and the San Mateo Performing Arts Center throughout the year. Two levels of wind ensemble are directed by Rosita Amador.

Our group lessons and ensembles have included, guitar class, rock band, brass ensemble and jazz combo.
