Lucas Floyd

Lucas Floyd (b. 1988) is a composer whose music reflects beauty and truth via unmistakable melodies, earnest harmonic landscapes, and structures large and small. His music is deeply felt, drawing on memory and shared human experience. With work described as “fluid, finely crafted, and thought-provoking,” Lucas desires to bring meaningful musical experiences to everyday people, whether in the concert hall, church service, or film score.

Anette Skloot

Anette Skloot began studying, performing and teaching music while still living in her native Sweden. She earned her degree in music at UC Berkeley where she studied with Janet Maestre, and has spent over 20 teaching flute and piano in her private studio, teaching in various after-school programs, including the Crowden School, and has occasionally worked as an accompanist. She has recorded on two widely released CDs and lives in El Sobrante with her classical guitar playing husband and violin playing son.

Dane Carlson

Dane Carlson is a music educator and professional musician, having played the Oboe and English Horn professionally since 1975. Dane has a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University, studying Oboe with Lee Lincoln and conducting with Vernon Read and Higo Harada. Dane has performed with a number of local ensembles including the San Jose Symphony, Fremont Symphony, Monterey Symphony, Santa Cruz County Symphony, Pacific Philharmonic, California Pops, Opera San Jose, and West Bay Opera.

Roshan Sukumar

Bay Area native Roshan Sukumar received his Master of Music in Bassoon Performance at the University of Washington, Seattle studying with Seth Krimsky, (Principal Bassoon, Seattle Symphony) and received his BA in Bassoon Performance from UCLA, studying with John Steinmetz, (Principal Bassoon, LA Opera).

Abigail Sten

Hailed by the Santa Barbara News-Press as a “strong and focused” artist and praised by CASA Magazine for her “sensitively realized” performances, Abigail Sten is an active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral flutist. Sten has held the position of second flutist with the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra in Ventura, California, as well as with the YMF Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles. She can frequently be found performing with Irish dance music ensembles.

Thingamakids! Summer Camp

Join Thingamajigs’ team of artists in a fun and engaging arts camp designed to expand the young creative mind. Through interactive workshops incorporating music, body movement, drama and visual art, campers will gain a unique and well-rounded experience in creativity, collaboration and experimentation. 

Felisa Simon

Felisa Simon, oboe, with more than 25 years of experience has performed in Latin America, Europe and throughout the United States. In addition to solo recitals, she worked in orchestras and wind ensembles with a particular love of chamber music and post-romantic composition. She trained at the New World School of the Arts, Brevard Music Center, Hot Springs Music Festival, Carmel Chamber Music Festival and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Felisa graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy and received her Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe Performance from Oberlin Conservatory.

Susanne Mentzer

I have been an international opera singer for over 30 years, having spend 20 years at the Metropolitan Opera. My specialty ranges from Mozart and Strauss to chamber music and recitals.
Additionally I taught 6 years at Shepherd School Rice University, and 6 years at DePaul University. I also was on faculty at Aspen Music Festival and School for 5 years. I give master classes around the country and have guest taught at the Sf Opera Merola program and Castleton Festival.

Leslie Chin

I was born in SF, grew up in Santa Cruz, and feel very fortunate to have a career in the Bay Area, playing and teaching flute. I perform with ensembles of all sizes: orchestras such as Oakland East Bay Symphony, Fremont Symphony, Marin Symphony, Pacific Chamber Symphony, SF Ballet, SF Opera; also for large choral groups like SF Choral Society and SF Gay Men's Chorus. I am a member of the Bellavente Wind Quintet, which released the CD "Frogs and Friends, Music and Stories for Children," in 2011, winning the Parent's Choice Approved Award.
