San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, on medical leave for the summer, has undergone heart surgery in the Cleveland Cardiovascular Clinic.
Joshua Robison, his husband, has sent a message calling the surgery a “complete success.”
The unspecified procedure was, according to MTT’s statement in his announcement of taking medical leave, “in continuation of treatment for a heart condition I have managed for many years.”
The S.F. Symphony’s subscription-season closing Debussy-Fauré concerts, with Ravel’s staged L’Enfant et les sortilèges, MTT was to conduct, June 27-30, are being led by Martyn Brabbins, music director of the English National Opera.
