Join the Young Women’s Chorus and Vivo Chorus in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with this special performance in San Francisco’s historic Chinatown! The concert includes select works inspired by music from China, Japan, Malaysia, Samoa, and the Philippines. Our program will be brought to a close with the West Coast premiere of “Rasa Nusantara,” an arrangement of four Malay folksongs by Malaysian-Chinese composer Dr. Tracy Wong. This energetic work showcases dance’s integral role in Malay music.
Central Chinese High School is the oldest Chinese school in the United States and its development and growth spans more than a century. YWCP is grateful for its use and the collaboration with the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association.
A walking tour of Chinatown and a group pre-concert dinner are available as add-ons to your ticket purchase!
